Rare Leopard Cubs born to Xizi at WHF Kent
Argun and Anuy are Amur leopard cubs born in captivity A pair of young Amur leopards can be seen playing as if they did not have a "care in the world", their keeper said. Male Argun and his sister Anuy have no idea they are two of the rarest type of leopard in the world. It is thought that no more than 40 Amur leopards survive in the wild. The eight-week-old cubs were born in October at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation (WHF), a conservation charity based in Smarden, Kent, which supports rare and endangered big cats. Mark Edgerley, who runs the centre, said the pair were beginning to become more confident and could often be seen playing together in their enclosure while their mother, three-year-old Xizi, looks on. |
